Historia de un brazo
Ricardo Sumalavia
After learning of his father’s death, a man recalls the details of their relationship. As he remembers, the real protagonist emerges: an arm with a life and mind of its own, lodged in his father’s gut until the man’s death. “Story of an Arm” is about mourning, fatherhood, sex, and, above all, family, alternately dream-like and playful, sinister and comic, perverse and laughable. Sumalavia received his doctorate in arts from the University of Bordeaux and has been a professor at several international universities. His novels include Que la tierra te sea leve (Let the Earth be Gentle with You) (2008), Mientras huya el cuerpo (As the Body Flees) (2012), and No somos nosotros (It’s Not Us) (2017).
