February’s Panorama with Gabriel Barletta

Gabriel Barletta
CEO of Panorama de las Américas
According to Forbes magazine, since the pandemic there has been an unusual growth in wellness tourism, as it is known internationally. This is a global tourism trend that includes activities aimed at improving lifestyle, targeting not only physical wellbeing, but also mental and spiritual health.
Destinations are preparing appropriate environments for reflection and retreat, and of course, Panama has not been left behind. On one hand, there are more traditional spas offering therapies in magnificent locations in the city center, but now there are also true complexes that include natural surroundings full of outdoor opportunities with holistic treatments involving therapies for body and mind.
In this edition of Panorama de las Américas, we invite you to discover what Panama offers to this type of tourist and how rest and regeneration are combined with outdoor activities.

Our edition also includes a tour of Colombia’s Coffee Region, connected with the rest of America thanks to Copa Airlines flights to Pereira. We traveled through fields, mountains, and various tourism ventures and gathered our experience in “seven wonders.”
Our person of the month is chef José Pérez Navarro, a pure-bred Panamanian who has committed himself to gastronomic research to show locals and foreigners the extraordinary variety of flavors, combinations, and traditions of Panamanian cooking.

And, to complete this menu, guided by a local entrepreneur, we learned secrets of a sector of the city that since colonial times remained outside the wall and was the living place for people who served “those inside.” The people of the suburb built large mansions, theaters, and memorable meeting places. Now, bordering the limits of a restored and vibrant Casco Antiguo, the incredible contrasts it offers are as striking as the history its walls hold.
Come and enjoy with us this new edition of Panorama de la Américas.
