Sargassum: A Solution in Sight
The proliferation of sargassum (or gulfweed) threatens the pristine beauty of beaches throughout the Caribbean basin. Fortunately, the Jamaican firm Awganic Inputs has found a way to turn sargassum into fodder. With the support of the Inter-American Development Bank, the company uses the seaweed to produce feed for goats and develop fodder for fish and rabbits. It has also created a less-polluting charcoal made from the sargassum.
