This first film by writer-journalist Javier Tolentino takes us beyond geopolitical and ideological conflicts to provide a very personal view of Iranian culture. Novice actor Erfan Shafei wants to be a film director. Fun-loving and witty, he takes us deep inside Iran, exposing his anxieties, dreams, and disappointments as he introduces us to the country’s people, whose philosophical, musical, and poetic nature mirrors the poetry of the film’s photography, narrative, and rhythm.
